La OEA informa sobre la postulación que podemos hacer desde la sociedad civil a diplomáticos que demuestran valor bajo circunstancias difíciles y toman riesgos o son especialmente creativos en sus esfuerzos para ayudar a la sociedad civil a fortalecer la democracia en los países donde han sido asignados.

On behalf of Dr. Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of International Affairs of the OAS, we would like to inform you that the Council for a Community of Democracies (CCD) is calling for nominations for the first “Palmer Prize for Significant Contributions to the Advancement of Democracy by Diplomats.” This award is intended to recognize diplomats who display valor under difficult circumstances and take risks or are especially inventive in their sustained efforts to assist civil society to advance democracy in their countries of assignment. Please see attached the press release and eligibility criteria of the award for your consideration.
In this sense, the Council for a Community of Democracies invites you to submit nominations for diplomat(s) who have demonstrated exceptional service in the promotion of democracy. Nominations should include a one-page brief summary of the candidate’s achievements and reasons why he/she should receive this award and be sent to the Council for a Community of Democracies by email levy@ccd21.org no later than December 1, 2010.

En nombre de la doctora Irene Klinger, Directora del Departamento de Asuntos Internacionales de la OEA, nos es grato informarle que el Council for a Community of Democracies (CCD) está convocando a la sociedad civil a postular candidaturas para el primer “Palmer Prize for Significant Contributions to the Advancement of Democracy by Diplomats”. Este premio busca reconocer a diplomáticos que demuestran valor bajo circunstancias difíciles y toman riesgos o son especialmente creativos en sus esfuerzos para ayudar a la sociedad civil a fortalecer la democracia en los países donde han sido asignados. En este sentido, el Council for a Community of Democracies invita a la sociedad civil a presentar nominaciones de diplomáticos que han demostrado un servicio extraordinario en la promoción de la democracia. Las nominaciones deben ser enviadas al Council for a Community of Democracies al correo electrónico levy@ccd21.org antes del 1 de diciembre de 2010 e incluir un breve resumen de una página acerca de los logros y razones por las que el o la diplomático/a merece recibir este premio.
